Hello, and a little about myself.

My background is in Social Care and Adult Mental Health, which I worked in for 30 years.

I am a registered member of BACP. It is my pleasure to be the CEO of TLC, to help people who require counselling and help in their lives. I have been married for over 39 years and have 3 grandchildren.

When I have chance I enjoy going on holidays and spend time with family.

I sincerely hope this website gives you an insight into the work of TLC, and the help which is available for you in times of need.

Chair of Trustees

I was born in Scarborough & came over to Huddersfield to train as a nurse. I began counselling in 1985.

My journey with UCHM (now TLC) really started before it was formed, as one of the founder members with Helga Taylor. As time passed I oversaw the Counselling side of UCHM, and was heavily involved with clinical supervision. I accredited as a counsellor and supervisor with ACC, then for the last 17 years with BACP, for the last 12 years as a senior accredited counsellor and supervisor.

My main role has been as Head of Counselling/Director, taking over as CEO when Helga retired in 2017.

I retired from clinical work in December 2018, and as CEO in July 2019. I had been Company Secretary of the Trust since 1992, and became Chair of the Trust when Joan Church retired.

My other great passion (from which I have not retired !!) is  taking pilgrimage groups to Israel.

General Manager

I have lived in Huddersfield all my life so far, and have been working for TLC since 2000, starting as an admin placement and before becoming an integral part of the team.

My role is far too varied to detail in full, it would fill the entire site, so I'll just touch on the main parts! I am responsible for the finance of the charity, managing the hire side of the work, managing the office and the smooth running of the centre along with the other managers.

Away from work I enjoy spending time with my two children, sports (particularly attending Huddersfield Town home games), gaming, travelling, reading, and learning about history.  I also dabble a bit with baking from time to time, much to the delight of my colleagues when I bring some in!
